The State of Illinois has hired Kirk Lonbom as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), a position that had been either open or occupied part-time for three years, according to a post on Government Technology.

In his new role, Lonbom "leads a statewide transformative cyber security strategy in support of Governor Bruce Rauner’s Turnaround Agenda," writes Hardik Bhatt, CIO for the State of Illinois in an article on LinkedIn announcing the hire. "Kirk provides leadership and oversight in the strategic planning, execution, and assessment of all statewide information and cyber security strategies, policies, procedures and guiding practices to be implemented by all Executive Branch State agencies."
