Pro-Jihad propaganda used to spread mobile malware

    According to researchers at Palo Alto's Unit 42, Scarlet Mimic is using pro-jihad and pro-terrorism lures to target people in Turkey. The mobile malware, which Unit 42 has named MobileOrder, can geo-locate and track victims and monitor communications – which is aligned with the group's previous activities of collecting information and espionage.

    In 2015, the group targeted Muslim activists and individuals known for critiques of the Russian government and President Putin. Now, they're targeting individuals in Turkey and using pro-terrorism propaganda as the lure in their attacks.
